On tour with the show "Sarau o Benedito?" Arnaldo Baptista has been displaying an aura of warmth and affection towards the public and critics as he takes his art to many events and stages around the country.
He closes the year in style with two apotheotic shows at one of the most important cultural spaces in São Paulo: SESC Pompéia on the 15th and 16th of December. It was in this neighborhood that Arnaldo spent his childhood, adolescence and founded Os Mutantes. "I'll play at home," he says.
Celso Masson, São Paulo's Época Director, lucidly defines the show: "Arnaldo plays piano in ecstasy, blending Chopin with Oscar Peterson or emulates Thelonious Monk playing with John Lennon. He plays Dave Brubeck in his broken 9/8 compass as a conservatory's Honky Tonky."

ARNEWS IN THE AIR: ARNALDO BAPTISTA TAKES HIS SOIREE TO PORTO ALEGRE.
A Brazilian Rock myth, Arnaldo Dias Baptista performs at Salão de Atos da Reitoria da UFRS, em Porto Alegre, on Oct 21 at 8:30PM, with the acclaimed solo show "Sarau O Benedito?". On this concert, the former Mutantes, sings and plays the piano, following the series that started in October 2011 at São Paulo's SESC Belenzinho. The success of his solo comeback, after 30 years, led the artist to a historical performance at Teatro Municipal de São Paulo, kicking off Virada Cultural 2012. The drawings and paintings of Arnaldo Dias Baptista compose the video projections for this show. One of the most influential names in Brazilian Rock and Pop, Arnaldo Dias Baptista, former leader of Os Mutantes, presents his solo show, "Sarau O Benedito?" at Teatro Municipal during São Paulo's Virada Cultural on Saturday, May 5 at 7PM. The show, intimate and engaging, with Arnaldo singing and playing the piano, brings video-projected scenery of his drawings and work as an artist. Arnaldo will play and sing classics like "Cê Tá Pensando Que Eu Sou Loki", "Não Estou Nem Aí", "Jesus Come Back to Earth" and "Balada do Louco", along with previously unreleased material from the new upcoming album Esphera, like "I Don't Care" and "Walking in the Sky". All numbers are alternated with songs by greats such as Bob Dylan, Elton John, The Mamas and The Papas, among others. ARNEWS BLOWS THE WHISTLE: ARNALDO FIRST MAJOR SOLO EXHIBITION "LENTES MAGNÉTICAS".
Hot of the press! The art exhibition "Lentes Magnéticas" of the artist, musician and one of the greatest icons of youth culture, Arnaldo Dias Baptista, takes place in São Paulo, at Galeria Emma Thomas from March 24 to April 20. This is Arnaldo’s first major solo exhibition in 30 years of producing drawings and paintings. A stunning opportunity! Arnaldo has been part of the body of artists at Galeria Emma Thomas since 2010. He also participated in the inaugural exhibition of the gallery in Barra Funda, and other art fairs such as SPArte and ArteBA, in Buenos Aires. Soiree, for those who are less acquainted, is a concert in a private place, club or theater. There has been a "Solo Voador", as Arnaldo says, at Cantareira on July 9 2011 at Garage-L. Another was promoted by entrepreneur Celso Loducca on October the 6th, and a third one at SESC Belenzinho on October 8 and 9, where tickets for both days got sold out within two hours. ARNEWS IN THE MOOD FOR LIGHTS, CAMERA AND ACTION!

Arnaldo mutantes once more and this time to the silver screen. The documentary: Loki - Arnaldo Baptista by director Paulo Henrique Fontenelle and produced by Canal Brasil (a cable TV Channel) opens at "PREMIÈRE BRASIL" on October 4th and could be nominated for Best Documentary and Public's Favorite at the 2008 edition of the Rio de Janeiro Internatinal Film Festival.
For fans and the general public this will be a great occasion. All will have the opportunity to get a glimpse of Arnaldo in a close captioned environment and be delighted with the rare and previously unreleased images of the artist's career. The festival runs from September 25th through October 9th 2008.

Soon after Arnaldo left Os Mutantes in the mid 70's he released his first solo album "LOKI?".
Towards the end of that decade he gets into a heavier sound with his group Arnaldo & Patrulha do Espaço. About a decade after Patrulha's break up the fans are awarded with two vinyl releases: Elo Perdido (studio album) and Faremos Uma Noitada Excelente (live album) – more details at the site's DISCOGRAPHY. Nowadays, after Virgin Brasil tried without any success to re-release those on CD, the recordings are shelved at EMI's archives.

ARNEWS LATEST: OS MUTANTES RECEIVE STANDING OVATION IN LONDON!

Os Mutantes performance at Barbican Cultural Center in London was a great triumph! The brothers Sérgio Dias and Arnaldo Baptista, the drummer Ronaldo "Dinho" Leme along with Zélia Duncan on vocals and the other members of the group took the crowd by surprise with it's "good vibe" and humor as always. The brazilian press until now aloof to the band's come back was raising eyebrows after the performance. ARNEWS MAKES IT OFFICIAL: "OS MUTANTES" ARE BACK!!!

Nothing more mutant than after thirty years Os Mutantes: Arnaldo Baptista, Sérgio Dias, and Dinho Leme (Sir Ronaldo I Du Rancharia) be reunited to play overseas. I'm talking about Tropicália - A Revolution in Brazilian Culture... A London salute to Tropicalismo.
The band is due to perform at Barbican Cultural Center on May 22nd and will count with Zélia Duncan on vocals and several other musicians. Besides London, The United States will also have the privilege to witness this historical event.

After his CD Re/Mix Re/Mexa was nominated for the TIM awards as one of the three best electronica works of 2003, Moisés Santana is back with Terra em Trânsito (Lua Music, 2005). The new CD counts with the presence of greats such as Arnaldo Baptista and Maria Alcina and shows a modern/ timeless side of Brazilian Music with styles ranging from Samba to Baião and Blues to Dub. Highlight given to the version of Cê Tá Pensando que Eu Sou Loki? written by Arnaldo and released on his first solo album Loki? (Philips, 1974).

ARNEWS EMPHASIZES THE IMMORTALITY OF ARNALDO BAPTISTA.

On it's issue no. 50, the MTV Magazine elects the 50 Immortals of Brazilian Music and Arnaldo is one of them. The votes were casted by music critics, journalists and Brazilian music connoisseurs. In the same issue are the 50 Most Important Books on music. Os Mutantes made their mark with A Divina Comédia Dos Mutantes, a book by Carlos Calado.

ARNEWS PRESENTS O’SEIS, THE MUTANTES EMBRYO.

The group O’Seis is Arnaldo's first recorded music collaboration. In 1966 with Raphael, Arnaldo, Sérgio, Rita, Mogguy and Pastura in the line up the group releases their only recording; a 45" single through Continental (a Brazilian label). With a cover inspired by the Fab 4 album With The Beatles the record featured Suicida (Raphael Vilardi / Roberto Loyola) and Apocalipse (Raphael Vilardi / Rita Lee) as a B side, it is now a true vinyl rarity. According to the legend only 500 copies were pressed and 300 of those were distributed in Porto Alegre, the capital of one of the southern states in Brazil. The following year O’Seis is reduced to a trio after Raphael, Mogly and Pastura left the band and Os Mutantes is born!
